Question No. 4
Shall the City of Lee's Summit, Missouri, issue its general obligation bonds in the amount of $10,870,000 for the purpose of constructing road improvements and acquiring necessary rights of way including improvements to Tudor Road? |
Tudor Road Improvements |
The completion of Tudor Road for $10.87 million is also proposed for the 2010 “No Tax Increase” Bond Issue. This project would connect the existing Tudor Road, which currently dead-ends just west of Douglas, to the new Ward Road that was recently completed around the Summit Technology Campus. This project would include an interchange with Main Street and a bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, which has been a major impediment to the private financing of this road project. The extension of Tudor Road, identified in the 2006 Thoroughfare Master Plan, would allow for access to undeveloped land in the area and provide traffic relief on Chipman and Douglas Roads by allowing an alternative route to I-470 via Ward Road and Blue Parkway.
